3. Father
God the eternal Father is the Creator, Source, Sustainer, and Sovereign of all creation. He is just and holy, merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness. The qualities and powers exhibited in the Son and the Holy Spirit are also revelations of the Father. (Gen. 1:1; Rev. 4:11; 1 Cor. 15:28; John 3:16; 1 John 4:8; 1 Tim. 1:17; Ex. 34:6, 7; John 14:9.)
Commentary -
It would be interesting to note here that in Point #2 The Son and The Holy Spirit are or seem to be considered as part of the God-Head or Trinity. Yet here in Point #3, they are called "revelations of the Father." A revelation is an announcement or a creation of. Nowhere in any research have I found that a revelation of could or should be considered as the source doing the revealing. However, that being said, I wonder why the name of this Father is not mentioned in the 7th day Adventist fundamental beliefs. If you were to consider only what has become known as "The Lord's Prayer," the first and primary point of concern Jesus mentioned is, "Our Father in the heavens, Hallowed be thy (or your) name." Jesus was in effect saying to sanctify Gods name in his prayer. In almost every translation of the bible, Psalm 83:18 says, "May people know that you, whose name is Jehovah, You alone are the Most High over all the earth." John 17:6,26 says: “I have made your name manifest to the men whom you gave me out of the world. They were yours, and you gave them to me, and they have observed your word. 26 I have made your name known to them and will make it known, so that the love with which you loved me may be in them and I in union with them.” If it was of such primary importance to Jesus, shouldn't we make it of primary importance in our doctrines and teaching?
